Mark Mike Mutumba, the founder of Omuto Foundation, has a powerful story that has shaped his passion for helping orphaned and vulnerable children. At the age of 12, he lost both of his parents and was forced to live with a foster family that had 14 children. Unfortunately, he was the only one not born into the family, and this made him a target for discrimination and psychological torture from the other children. This upbringing left him feeling shy, lonely, and lacking self-love.
Despite these challenges, Mark was fortunate to receive sponsorship from Kabaka Sponsorship, which enabled him to complete his primary education. However, when his mother passed away, he was unable to continue his education and was forced to leave the foster home. He spent a month on the streets of Kampala until a church member helped him trace one of his uncles. Unfortunately, he was still subjected to discrimination and mistreatment by his uncle's family.
Determined to succeed, Mark sold Jack fruit on his own to make ends meet. It wasn't until he joined the Baha'i Community Building Program in 2013 that he began to overcome his self-hate, gain confidence, and learn that he could make a positive impact on the world.
In 2017, he migrated to Mpigi from where Mark founded Omuto Foundation, formerly known as "One 4 Another children's charity," to help orphaned and vulnerable children in Mpigi. Despite his initial doubts about his capacity to make a difference, he started with simple acts of charity and eventually partnered with friends who had similar experiences to his. Together, they founded the Omuto Foundation in 2019, and since then, they have been able to impact the lives of countless children.
Mark's passion for supporting orphaned and vulnerable children stems from his own experiences. He knows firsthand the challenges these children face and believes that given the chance, they can thrive and become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. With Omuto Foundation, Mark is determined to provide these children with the support and resources they need to succeed and make a difference in the world
