How we work

In schools, a patron teacher supports student teams as they plan activities, organise other students and look after their projects. The work includes leadership training, menstrual health education, tree care and water filter maintenance.

Outside school, Omuto supports youth groups through YAP, offers practical learning through YoSkills, and works with football teams and young media creators.

Our purpose

We work for fair access to education, healthcare and mentorship for young people in underserved communities in Uganda. Our programmes give young people practical ways to lead, build skills and act on issues in their schools and communities.

People behind the work · 2025 report

Former interns now work at Omuto

Omuto reports that 21 interns had joined its programmes since 2020, including eight in 2025. Their field presence and local knowledge helped the organisation expand into Butambala.

Three former interns became full-time Omuto staff. Others returned as volunteers and mentors.
