Starting with groups already in the community

Our April 2024 LinkedIn article described working with churches to support young people in Mpigi. Church leaders were trained as facilitators, helping youth groups discuss the questions and challenges affecting their lives.

The work used a resource called Building Bridges, which connected scriptural discussion with everyday issues. The approach brought faith, practical learning and youth development into the same group setting.

Learning through local facilitators

The article set out five areas of the O.M.U.T.O. model: recognising challenges, developing strengths, using practical skills, exploring purpose and setting goals. Its accompanying photograph showed menstrual health peer educator training at St. Bonaventure church auditorium.
